What a Marginmoth month-end close actually looks like.

A step-by-step walk through the close: the nightly sweep, the review queue, the bookkeepers sign-off, the P&L, and the tax-reserve update.

If you have ever wondered what a bookkeeper-quality close actually contains, this is the walk-through. Every Marginmoth month-end follows the same sequence, and every step is delivered to you in writing so tax time is a one-meeting conversation.

1. Nightly sweep. By 6am local every business day the agent pulls every linked account (bank, credit card, Stripe, PayPal) and reconciles against yesterdays open balance. Anything that doesnt match lands in an exceptions queue, not silently "corrected."

2. Auto-categorization. Each new transaction is tagged against your custom category set with a confidence score. Lines above your threshold (default 95 percent) get committed to the ledger. Below the threshold, they go to your review queue with the agents reasoning.

3. Cash-flow update. The 30/60/90-day projection rolls forward with the latest outgo and inflow plus any scheduled invoices. A shortfall warning plus the suggested actions ship to your inbox whenever the 30-day number dips below your safety floor.

4. Invoice chasing. The day-0/7/14 cadence runs every morning at 9am. You can pause any chain, edit any template, or hand the invoice back to yourself; nothing happens without a logged decision.

5. Bookkeeper review. Between the 28th and the 1st a licensed bookkeeper signs off on the close: reconciliations, categorizations, and the P&L. The review is logged per line, so if your CPA asks "why was this reclassified" we can answer.

6. P&L + tax reserve. The first of the month you receive a one-page P&L in your inbox, plus an updated tax-reserve projection. The same sheet is what your accountant files from, so there is no second pass to organize before tax season.

The agent does the heavy lifting. The bookkeeper signs off. You skim the review queue once a week and review the P&L on the first of the month. That is the entire surface area on your side, and it is what $79/month buys.
